November 2016 Meeting Announcement

The Dorset Chalk Stream Club will have its first winter social gathering in West Stafford Village hall on Friday the 4th of November 2016

starting at 7.30pm

Just look at the amazing evening we have lined up for you all… 

Dry Fly River fishing obsession in northern England.

We shall be showing our fishing experiences on the iconic Derbyshire Wye which is unique to a wild rainbow trout that has been in the river since 1800s and by freak accident managed to sustain a wild population.

Also the River Dove (froome grayling)  and the Welsh Dee and Severn shall be included in the talk.

The talk shall be directed at dry fly fishing techniques  for preoccupied trout and grayling…flys shown shall be ones that are not known in the public eye.

Phil Ratcliffe (GAIA, FFF pro caster and guide ) will be on hand with casting techniques and questions to improve your line control.

The talk will be very informal and we would like all club members to join in the chat.

Some high res trout porn images shall be displayed on the projector.

Fishing stories will also be on the talk with some major success and failures.

After the chat and “Buffet break” we will have scott Webster at the vice showing his awesome ‘working’ flys.

Mark Brando will be selling a selection of wild pelts that cannot be purchased anywhere.

The Dorset Chalk Stream Club will have its fourth winter social gathering in West Stafford Village hall on Friday the 18th March 2016 starting at 7.30pm 

The evening will be the usual totally informal celebration of the Chalk Stream, with the usual breaks for food and drink, alongside two slide shows.

Our first speakers will be Jacob Drew and Sarah Williams “Dorset Wild Rivers Project – Past and Future”

After the break Roger Genge and Nick Gray will give their talk on “Fish passes, Woody debris, and Stoned gateways – Restoring West Dorset’s rivers and streams

February Meeting Announcement

The rather stormy weather continues, dust off your cobwebs and get to the next social gathering, an evening of fly fishing talks to wet your appetite for the coming spring :)

The Dorset Chalk Stream Club will have its Third winter social gathering in West Stafford Village hall on Friday the 26th February 2016 starting at 7.30pm 

The evening will be the usual totally informal celebration of the Chalk Stream, with the usual breaks for food and drink, alongside two slide shows.

Our first speaker will be Mr David Burton “A river runs through IT” David has spent a season or two sorting out a few good fish from the Piddle, the Frome and further afield, Dartmoor and Exmoor..

After the break Mr Richard Miller and Mr John Thorpe will give their talk on “Tales of Salmon and Sea Trout from the Oykel and Knoydart”

November Meeting Announcement

Chalkstream club at last… When you have a moment… The Dorset Chalk Stream Club will have its first winter social gathering in West Stafford Village hall on Friday the 13th November starting at 7.30pm 

The evening will be the usual totally informal celebration of the Chalk Stream, with the usual breaks for food and drink, alongside several slide shows.

**STOP PRESS** Dr Tony Hayter Author of : “FM Halford and the Dry Fly Revolution” and “G.E.M. Skues The man of the nymph” Will again be attending the Chalk Stream Club gathering, to present us with a slide show and book signing for those who already have these books or would love to purchase one.

Tony gave us the most amazing presentation about Skues at our last Christmas gathering and will now talk us through “FM Halford and the Dry Fly Revolution”

Then a selection of your Fishing / River work etc slide shows.

 Please put a few of your photographs on a memory stick and we can put them up on a screen.

We did this in December last year and it was a really great evening.
