The Dorset Chalk Stream Club will have its November social gathering in West Stafford Village hall (DT2 8AG) on Friday the 6th November 2026 starting at 7.30pm.

Guest speaker – Dan Osmond – www.peacetroutandunderstanding.com

The landscape of the British Isles have been mined for millennia, which now leaves a legacy of mine water pollution in many rivers. Trout have long been observed to persist, recolonise and even thrive within these polluted environments: how do they do it? Dan’s talk will examine this question, using a variety of genetic methods to understand the process and implications of adaptation to post-industrial landscapes. Dan has also recently published a book, ‘Peace, Trout, and Understanding: A Student’s Guide to Fishing in the Anthropocene’ and will touch upon the themes of this collection of writing.

Please bring a plate of good food to pop on the buffet table, a bottle of your favourite tipple, sorry to say the The Wise Man Inn is currently closed 🙁

Bring along any of your unwanted tackle, flies and books to sell on the second hand tackle table, and if you would like to have a stand (FOC), just give me a ring 01305 257490 or ping me an email – john@riverworks.co.uk

Please bring friends along to meet fellow chalk stream and fly fisher folk.

Entrance for this winters gatherings will again be free of charge.
