Headed down to Dartmoor again for a wander around, this time I was on the right hand bank of the River Dart. Left home at just after 6am and arrived in good time around 7.40.
I parked in the main Venford Reservoir car park and walked down the Venford Brook looking for the double waterfall. Beautiful little brook, with lots of mini waterfalls, but there was no mistaking the main one. Grabbed a few shot over the very slippery boulders and really pleased with the outcome.
Head diagonally down hill towards the River Dart, which looked stunning in the early sun. Rock hopped along about 1/2 mile until I reached another little brook, which I followed up to the road – took another waterfall photo.
Crossed the road and headed up, it was all up from the river, so getting tired and still only done about 2 miles!! Tried to find the top, but it seemed to go on and on, so headed south to find a way down the south side of the reservoir. I did find old tin mining remains, huge V shaped crevasses across the land. Some really interesting old mountain ash there.
Easy walking down hill to the south car park and across the reservoir road back to my car – 5.8 miles, but it was hard going. I must return to retake my Dartmoor abstract, I just need the grass in focus.
