Drove over to Killerton, a National Trust property, which is just north of Exeter. First long drive in the new car, it went very well.
Parked up and went in, the first thing that struck me was the number of large trees. There is even an ancient sweet chestnut tree along the main path. I checked the ancient tree site and the place light up, there are loads of ancient, veteran and notable trees in the grounds and surrounding woods.
We had a wander around the house, very grand and loved the laundry room. Then to look for the bear hut and ice room. The bear hut was easy to find, but the ice house proved more difficult. We walked around in circles, this along some very steep paths. Finally we found it, it was tucked away in the corner. The ice house is a very impressive brick lined hole!
Walked amongst some more monster tall trees from California and found a suitable bench to have lunch. Slowly made our way back to the car and onto Ikea – more trinkets for the office.
